I am a third-year journalism student at the University of Georgia, working towards a minor in sports management and certificates in sports media and news literacy. I am interested in writing and reporting within the sports industry.
My interest in journalism was sparked in high school when I was the editor of my high school’s yearbook and newspaper. Writing about sports became second nature to me. It is a field that has brought me confidence as a writer. I am taking great strides toward building a deeper connection with the field.
As an intern with the University of Georgia hockey team, I have learned to implicate various social media strategies, work with a creative team to produce unique content and analyze user engagement analytics to gauge content success. This internship has also provided me a basic skillset in photography. I look forward to continuing this internship duirng th erest of my time at UGA.
My coursework in Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication provides me with experience reporting and writing on a variety of journalistic story types. I have gained experience practicing interview techniques, gathering information and data and capturing multimedia elements. Fact checking for accuracy and reporting from an unbiased perspective are essential in this field.
